The CenterStage Players, featuring Janet Planet and Tim Dorsey, are joined by a children's chorus to take you on a musical journey through the Solar System. Imagination and science meet to inspire young listeners to look up to the stars and learn about their profound place in the heavens. First produced in 1988, this remastering of Mueller's first youth musical captures all the joy and energy of his CenterStage years.
With a different musical style for each planet (a calypso for hot Mercury; a french love song for Venus, a surfer's tune for Neptune...), this enchanting musical teaches about the planets, asteroids and the sun while entertaining. Incorporates all the latest discoveries about the solar system (as of 1988, back when Pluto was still a planet).
Breathtaking artwork by Robert Uhlrich illustrates the accompanying book (available through CenterStage-Musicals). If you are interested in the illustrated book, full scripts, background accompaniment CDs or more information, contact Tobin Mueller on his Official Website or learn more at CenterStage-Musicals. Appropriate for grades 4-12; target grades for stage performance: 5-9.
Music of the Planets is an example of the incredible versatility that CenterStage-Musicals embody. It has been performed by casts of 12 to 380 children from grades 2 to 10. Classroom testing has proven its effectiveness as a curriculum aide, increasing comprehension and interest, making the science curriculum appeal to a broader group of children.
CenterStage Players include Janet Planet, Timothy Dorsey, Jim Hart, Mary Stumpf, Tobin Mueller, Anton (Twon) Mueller, and Jeff Marozek on guitar. This recording was made in 1988 and has been remastered for this release. Originally produced by CenterStage Productions, Kim Vanderhyden and Tobin Mueller; engineered by Jeff Marozek.
