MOON RIVER (instrumental)
music by Henry Mancini, lyrics by Johnny Mercer
Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.
Song Notes: Suzanne requested that I include Moon River on this album. After trying several arrangements of me singing, I realized it needed to be an instrumental to better convey the sense of moonlight and possibilities capture in its lyrics. (How weird is that, bringing out the lyrics by not singing them.)
The instrumental provides a moment to think about the journey. To recover. Not reverie so much as a gathering, a looking both forward and backward without distraction. I hope the music gives you that space... as it leads into Somewhere...
